only the good die young
I think this must have been the last time I wore pure white shoes. (I'm in middle row, second from the left.) My parents made me attend this First Communion class, no doubt as one way to try to keep me out of Hell, but I think I saw it more as an opportunity to socialize with new people. Plus, they gave out free bread.
wow. your young picture resembles your daughter a lot; it's almost a spitting image. even the mannerism in how you're sitting seems to be like your daughter.
some white wedding shoes sure are pretty, i love looking at them. and i guess white shoes with like a renaissance outfit or some princess outfit, but then that would again not count as real white shoes that you're referring to.

Hey! Side-swept bangs! Trend anticipator.
I agree that there is something jarring about white shoes, but I think it's just unnatural to have light colored feet and dark colored legs. So if your legs are white, maybe white shoes will look okay. But those will be some pretty white legs, and other aesthetic issues arise.

susan, worse than jade's uncanny resemblance to my childhood pictures is her strikingly similar sassy mouth. my mother always said i'd have one like me one day...
E., as i noted in comments to carina in the "i challenge thee" post, i think you hit on part of the problem--white shoes just don't look good with any skin color (i think they make fair skin look pasty) and one certainly should not pair them with tights or colored pantyhose. i see no way around this problem. so i say, girls, enjoy your white shoes until your first communion, then say goodbye to them. but keep the memories.

White bucks worn without socks or laces tied might suit your surfer chick ouvre (they are less preppy than otherwise thought) I don't own a pair and am not affiliated with any shoe manufacturer. What strikes me about your photo is that you essentially look exactly the same (sans veil). If you were to see my First Communion photo- I doubt you would recognize me

bud, i'm definitely in the usually-hates-to-wear-socks camp.
you obviously skipped civ pro on the days i wore the veil. come to think of it, that was usually on friday mornings, so you were still at bar review.
